2020 Budget: Govt allocates RM1.1b for Malaysia's economic corridors

KUALA LUMPUR The government has allocated RM1.1 billion in 2020 Budget for Malaysia’s economic corridors.

Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng said this is one of the government’s initiatives to support projects related to the corridors.

The projects involved include Chuping Valley Industrial Area in Perlis, Kuantan Port, Sungai Segget Centralised Sewerage Treatment Plant, Samalaju Industrial Park in Sarawak and Sabah Agro-Industrial Precinct.

“The government has allocated RM50 million for the development of Chuping Valley by Northern Corridor Implementation Authority and RM69.5 million for the Kuantan Port related projects by East Coast Economic Region Development Council,” Lim said when tabling the 2020 Budget.

A total of RM42 million had been allotted for Iskandar Regional Development Authority’s construction of Sungai Segget Centralised Sewerage Treatment Plant, he added.

For East Malaysia, Lim said the government allocated RM55 million for infrastructure in the Samalaju Industrial Park in Sarawak by Regional Corridor Development Authority and RM20 million for the Sabah Agro-Industrial Precinct by Sabah Economic Development and Investment Authority.
