Vanke debuts 'Run for Fun' in Malaysia, first time outside China

KUALA LUMPUR: For the first time in Malaysia and outside China, Vanke Holdings (M) Sdn Bhd (VHSB) is introducing its ‘Run For Fun’, an event that has taken great strides in China for many years.

The upcoming debut in Malaysia will be special, as only corporations, non-government organisations (NGO) and government representatives will be running in the 5km race, to be held at Perdana Botanical Garden in Kuala Lumpur on November 2, 2019.

According to VHSB, more than 2,000 participants have already signed up to run in the event that aims to encourage healthy living, and for corporations to be mindful of their employees’ health and working environment.

‘Run For Fun’ was initiated in 2013 by Vanke Group. Since its initiation in Shenzhen, there had been more than 380 races held across 60 cities in China.

About 800,000 people from 20,000 corporations, 40,000 families and more than 50 schools have participated in these events.

VMSB managing director Lang Cong said other than being a fun, healthy and energetic activity, the run represents Vanke’s commitment to community involvement since entering the Malaysian market.

"We want to make it clear that Vanke’s dedication to improving lives is not only done through its products and services, but also through its culture.

“A healthy corporate culture values each employee in the organization regardless of their job duties, which results in employees’ improved morale and productivity. These sports activities have shown to raise staff satisfaction in the company, which results in employees working as a team to meet the company’s needs besides their own,” he said.
