Supermax buys Klang land for plant No. 16

KUALA LUMPUR: Supermax Corporation Bhd' has completed the sale and purchase agreement with Nishimen Industries (M) Sdn Bhd for a five-acre site in Klang, Selangor for RM20 million.

Supermax said it would build its 16th manufacturing plant on the land bought through its wholly-owned Maxter Glove Manufacturing Sdn Bhd.

The five-acre industrial plot known as Lot 6062, is located next to Supermax's existing cluster of manufacturing plants.

Supermax founder Stanley Thai said the group would push forward the construction of Plant 16 as the demand for gloves was increasing amid the Covid-19 outbreak.

"We foresee the demand surge will remain strong over the next 1.5 to two years.

"Plant 16, expected to be completed in a few years' time, will increase the production capacity by 4.5 billion pieces per year.

"Combined with Plant 13 and Plant 14, Supermax's capacity will increase to approximately 38.18 billion pieces by the end of calendar year 2022," Thai said.
