17 Top Glove staff Covid-19 positive

KUALA LUMPUR: Top Glove Corp Bhd has today confirmed that 17 employees have tested positive for Covid-19 since January this year.

The group said this was less than 0.1 per cent of its total workforce of 21,000 people.

Top Glove said the affected employees were asymptomatic and most of them did not have a fever.

It said the affected employees were isolated following the swab test taken on November 2 and had since been admitted to hospital for treatment after their results came back positive.

It said deep cleaning and thorough sanitisation of the affected factory, living quarters and company vehicles had been carried out in accordance with guidelines from the Ministry of Health.

In tandem, contact tracing is underway and employees in close contact with the affected employees have been tested and put on home quarantine pending results.

There was no impact on the group's operations, Top Glove added.

"We wish to reiterate that the safety and well-being of our employees and external partners are of utmost importance to us, and that we have implemented various SOPs to help curb the spread of this virus, including the registering of employees and visitors as well as temperature checks before being allowed to enter Top Glove's premises; enforcing the usage of face masks for everyone within the company's premises; placement of markers for physical distancing; and the provision of hand sanitisers at various locations," it said.
