Sapura Energy bags RM1.85bil contracts, including Saudi Aramco CRPO 59

KUALA LUMPUR: Sapura Energy Bhd today announced recent contract wins in its engineering and construction (E&C) and drilling divisions that has a combined value of approximately RM1.85 billion.

In a statement today, the company said the awards include the purchase order 59 (CRPO 59) contract from the Saudi Arabian Oil Co (Saudi Aramco), issued under a long-term agreement (LTA) signed with the oil and gas (O&G) producer.

"We are honoured to be awarded the CRPO 59 contract by Saudi Aramco, one of the world's biggest O&G producers. This is a significant win for Sapura Energy, proving our technical capabilities.

"It also strengthens our strategy to grow the business and expand our presence in the Middle East," Sapura Energy group chief executive officer Tan Sri Shahril Shamsuddin said.

CRPO 59 was awarded to Sapura Fabrication Sdn Bhd and Sapura Saudi Arabia Co involving projects in the Zuluf, Ribyan and Abu Safah oil fields, offshore Saudi Arabia.

Sapura Energy said its scope of work includes the engineering, procurement, fabrication, transportation and installation, and pre-commissioning of jackets for three new wellhead platforms at the three oil fields.

It said these contracts are expected to be completed by the first quarter (Q1) of calendar year 2022.

Sapura Energy said the group was selected as Saudi Aramco's LTA contractor in 2018 after successfully undergoing an extensive assessment of operational and safety requirements.

"The new contract wins demonstrate Sapura Energy's resilience in a challenging environment, progressing the company's strategy of leveraging on its agility and assets to expand international reach.

"Sapura Energy aims to capture growing opportunities in addressable markets in the energy industry, by deepening its presence in the fastest growing regions and industry segments," it said.
