Gagasan Nadi wins RM97.4mil job to build MRSM Dungun

KUALA LUMPUR: Gagasan Nadi Cergas Bhd has bagged a RM97.4 million project to build an MRSM campus on 27.5 hectares in Dungun, Terengganu.

The company said it had received a Letter of Award from the Public Works Department (PWD) for the design-and-build turnkey construction project, comprising an academic block, a student complex, a hostel and other relevant infrastructures.

"The construction works will commence on March 29, 2021, and are expected to be completed within two and a half years. This is the second MRSM construction project awarded to the group in the last three years," it said.

Previously, Gagasan Nadi won a RM96 million MRSM project to build an educational building in Bagan Datuk, Perak, which was completed in December 2020.

Group managing director Wan Azman Wan Kamal, said it remained committed to supporting government initiatives aimed at improving the standard of academic infrastructure in the country.

"The yet another contract win from PWD for a public tertiary campus is thus a testament to our track record of completing public projects on time, as well as our competencies in constructing purpose-built facilities.

"This contract marks a good start for Gagasan Nadi Cergas as we move away from the tumultuous Covid-19-ridden year, and we hope to see more new contracts following suit going forward," said Wan Azman.

Gagasan Nadi has participated in multiple government essential projects, including the ongoing construction of RM290 million Cardiology Centre in Serdang Hospital, Selangor.

A Grade G7 contractor, Gagasan Nadi is also one of the few contractors registered with the Construction Industry Development Board under code B29, permitting it to undertake construction of hospitals and healthcare facilities.

"The new contract will add on to the company's outstanding orderbook, after netting off recognised billings during fourth quarter (Q4) 2020 (to be announced at the end of March 2021). The jobs in hand will keep the group busy for the next three years," it said.
