Smart helmet brand Lumos levels up with Endeavor Malaysia

HIGH-IMPACT mobility company Lumos has successfully passed Endeavor Malaysia's Local Selection Panel co-organised with Endeavor Philippines, which was held recently.

During the Selection Process, five panelists interviewed and selected candidates to progress to the International Selection Panel.

Lumos is a next-generation bike helmet designed to improve the wearer's visibility and ability to communicate intentions to motorists while riding in traffic.

It began as a Kickstarter crowdfunding project, and has since been named one of Oprah's Favorite Things as well as TIME Magazine's Best Inventions of 2018. It is also the first helmet of any kind to be sold in over 300 Apple Stores worldwide.

Today, Lumos has cumulatively to date sold and shipped more than 150,000 helmets to riders all around the world with an incremental increase in sales in 2020.

"My journey with Endeavor started a few months back, where I was able to meet with mentors and other entrepreneurs from the network who gave me different perspectives of my business. Being part of this amazing community is like getting the best of both worlds - you get to connect with like minded entrepreneurs and speak to some of the most experienced mentors who have both the knowledge and experience in this entrepreneurial journey. I look forward to the next step, which is the International Selection Panel and the global network!" commented Eu-wen Ding, CEO & Co-founder of Lumos.

During the Local Selection Panel with Endeavor mentors, Eu-wen managed to win over the mentors through his passion in product research and development.

The Local Selection Panel is an inaugural event where companies will present their businesses to a panel of Endeavor mentors, composed of high-calibre industry experts. For this session, we had Rafiq Razali (Group Executive Director of Media Prima Bhd), Ahmad Zaky (Founder and CEO of Bukalapak), Lam Nguyen Phuong (Co-founder and Senior Managing Partner of the Private Markets division of Capital Group), Riza Mantaring (President and CEO of Sun Life Financial) and Richard Eldridge (CEO of Lenddo) as panelists.

"The entrepreneurs I've met during the interviews were solid. By putting them through the Selection Process and with the support of Endeavor, I believe we can push these companies to become more aggressive in scaling their businesses, creating a 'one plus one more than two' effect," commented Rafiq Razali, Group Executive Director of Media Prima Bhd.

Together with Eu-wen, there were two other companies from the Philippines, Great Deals and Payo, who went through the Selection Process.

"Entrepreneurship is more than just a trend - it is a key driver of economic growth and job creation, especially in countries like Malaysia and Philippines. With the right support and network that constantly pays it forward, like Endeavor, I believe the entrepreneurs would bring great impact to the economy," added Rafiq.

As a local Endeavor Entrepreneur, Eu-wen will now be supported by Endeavor through access to strategic advice, talent, capital, markets to scale his business to the next level.

With the support of over 70 mentors, Endeavor Malaysia now supports 47 companies across two different tracks.
