KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysia NFT Group has launched the country's inaugural virtual exhibition of Crypto Art.
Crypto Art Week Malaysia 2021 (CAWA Malaysia) will run from July 10 to July 18.
Organised by the Malaysia NFT group and the art collective NFXT.io, the event features digital works by 29 Malaysian crypto-artists ranging from established creators to emerging talents in the crypto art space.
CAWA Malaysia runs in tandem with CryptoArt Week Asia (CAWA) that runs from July 9 to July 16.
NFT said CAWA aimed to diversify the crypto art space that has followed a predominantly Western focused narrative.
Through the event, CAWA Malaysia seeks to promote Malaysian crypto artists to digital-natives and newbies, collectors, galleries and potential patrons.
NFT spokesperson said Crypto Art week was testament to the burgeoning digital art world in Malaysia and represents Malaysian talent in this new global phenomenon taking the world by storm.
"Complementary to the gallery spaces, the Malaysia NFT gallery also boasts an auditorium, gift shop, 'lepak' (hangout) areas as well as its very own mamak," the spokesperson said in a statement today.
The headline sponsors for CAWA Malaysia are Minty.art, Genesis block and Metapurse. Coingecko is CAWA Malaysia's trusted media sponsor.
NFT is a group made up of Malaysian crypto artists, creators and supporters.
