Toyota sales in Malaysia rise in June

KUALA LUMPUR: UMW Toyota Motor Sdn Bhd continues its upward sales trajectory, with 8,870 units of Toyota and 69 units of Lexus sold in June.

This compared with the previous month's sales of 7,442 Toyota vehicles and 137 Lexus vehicles.

UMW Toyota said compared to the overall sales of May (7,579 units), the registered total sales for June stood at 8,939 units.

Year-to-date sales till June, the company sold a total of 45,911 units, compared with 34,111 units in the first six months of 2021, for a growth 35 per cent.

"The recent announcement on the Sales and Service Tax (SST) exemption is expected to have a short-term negative impact on sales.

"However, this is mitigated with some early signs of recovery on the global shortage of semiconductors and microchips in the second half of this year, production could ramp up and with the launch of newer, more sophisticated models boasting advanced automotive technology which will leave buyers spoilt for choice," it said in a statement today.

UMW Toyota president Ravindran K said shifting gears into the second half of 2022, it was focused on going the extra mile to provide Toyota owners with the best ownership and after-sales experience by reimagining what ownership is about.

"Looking ahead, shifting consumer behaviours will likely place value on advanced automotive technologies and comprehensive security features supported by a host of value-added after-sales services.

"We offer owners not only the best technological advancement at their fingertips for a smoother and safer drive, we go the extra mile to enhance their ownership journey. Through financial and insurance packages, top-notch servicing and Toyota 247 roadside assist, we are confident in delivering an unforgettable journey from the starting line by taking great care of our customers from the moment they enter our doors," he added.
