LYC Healthcare to expand talent for postpartum, confinement care services

KUALA LUMPUR: LYC Healthcare Bhd has partnered with private institutions to develop courses to grow talent for postpartum or confinement care services.

Its subsidiary, LYC Mother & Child Centre Sdn Bhd (LYCMC), today signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Lincoln University College and Evexia Education Group Sdn Bhd (Evexia) to develop educational courses jointly.

LYCMC and Lincoln University College will jointly develop the program syllabus to provide students with a holistic education program that will enable them to establish a career in the postpartum or confinement industry or its related businesses.

LYC managing director and group chief executive officer David Sui Diong Hoe said this collaboration was driven by a common goal of engaging and empowering the young.

In addition, Sui said the courses are open to anyone who wishes to upskill themselves.

"We hope to fill the existing labour gap by creating a pool of ready talent in the confinement care industry," he said.

Higher household incomes, a rise in female education levels, and participation in the labour force have driven demand for confinement care services.

With Malaysia being a multicultural society, there is a need for confinement centres that cater to different cultures and preferences.

LYCMC's confinement centres practice a unique fusion of traditional Chinese confinement care and modern professional medical care, suitable for a wider range of demographics.
