Seven from Malaysia feted with global humanitarian awards

KUALA LUMPUR: The World Humanitarian Drive (WHD) has awarded seven individuals, organisations and community groups in Malaysia with the prestigious Global Humanitarian Award.

The recipients were Ahmad Tarmizi Mukhtar, Dr Florance Manoranjitham Sinniah, Pure Life Society, Malaysia Corruption Watch (MCW), Mohd Nasir from Penang Tanjung Muslim Association, R Naraesh Pillai and Malaysian Indian Armed Forces Veteran Penang.

The accolades were given during the "Trilateral Global Summit 2022".

The summit emphasises the importance of WHD's vision initiatives for various efforts to raise awareness about the role of trade policy in addressing global challenges and bringing investment to peace acceding projects.

Ahmad Tarmizi is HUMANiTi incumbent secretary general and Nectar Foundation chairman.

"His selfless contributions to humanity have set an example to many and inspired a lot in these times of hardships giving the hope of sunshine through humanity," WHD founder Dr Abdul Basit Syed said in a statement.

Ahmad Tarmizi said the award was a testimonial of the hard work rendered by the team and commitment given by many Malaysians.

"Congratulation to WHD founder Dr Abdul Basit Syed, Sara Wilson, Professor Datuk Dr GP Doraisamy and its entire team for the wonderful effort. I'm proud to say that this award goes to every Malaysian in conjunction of Malaysia Day celebrated on Sept 16," he said.

The honouring ceremony was held on Sept 13 in London.
