Salcon bags Langat 2 contract from PAAB

KUALA LUMPUR: Salcon Bhd's wholly-owned subsidiary, Salcon Engineering Bhd, has been awarded Package 3 – Cadangan Reka dan Bina Sistem Pelupusan Enapcemar Untuk Loji Rawatan Air Langat 2 by Pengurusan Aset Air Bhd (PAAB).

The project's scope is to design and build a residual conveyance and disposal system for Langat 2 Water Treatment Plant, which includes a pipe conveyor of approximately 2,000 metres from the plant to the residual storage shelter near Bukit Enggang Balancing Reservoir.

Salcon Engineering chief operating officer Jamiluddin Amini Sulaiman said the project award is a testament to the solid confidence that PAAB, as the client, has in Salcon's strong track record and expertise in the local water industry.

"We are confident of carrying out the project to successful completion," he said in a statement today.

The project forms part of the development of the Langat 2 Water Treatment Plant and Water Reticulation System in Selangor and Kuala Lumpur.

Salcon, in 2020, completed the 1,130 million litres per day Langat 2 Water Treatment Plant.

Valued at RM209.95 million, the project will commence on October 4, 2022, upon taking possession of the site.

The project, to be undertaken over the next 27 months, is expected to be completed in January 2025.

The project is expected to contribute positively to the earnings and net assets of Salcon Group for the financial years ending December 31, 2023, to 2025.
