MNRB appoints Ahmad Noor Azhari as new president, CEO of Malaysian Re

KUALA LUMPUR: MNRB Holdings Bhd (MNRB) has appointed Ahmad Noor Azhari Abdul Manaf as the new president and chief executive officer of Malaysian Reinsurance Bhd (Malaysian Re) effective April 1, 2023.

Noor Azhari assumes the role succeeding Zainudin Ishak whose contract expires on April 1, 2023.

Noor Azhari brings with him almost three decades of experience in the industry of which seven years had been with Malaysian Re.

Currently he is the chief underwriting officer (CUO) of Malaysian Re, a position he has held since December 1, 2021.

As CUO, he has been responsible for spearheading the company's business in the Asia, Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA) and North America markets.

Prior to joining Malaysian Re in 2016, Ahmad Noor Azhari was the principal officer of Kuwait Re Far East Regional Office.

Malaysian Re chairman George Oommen said the board values the trust and support that Noor Azhari has been extending to Malaysian Re.

He said this appointment recognises his significant contributions to Malaysian Re after serving the company for almost seven years.

"He has held various leadership positions over the course of his career with the company and has been instrumental in shaping the company's growth and innovation throughout his tenure.

"We are confident that the combination of his skills and leadership experience will further drive the success of Malaysian Re's domestic and international businesses," George said in a statement.

Echoing the statement, MNRB president and group chief executive officer Zaharudin Daud said Noor Azhari has a proven track record in driving the group's reinsurance business, particularly in growing its overseas business.

"He has always demonstrated strong enthusiasm and drive and given his familiarity of Malaysian Re and its business strategy, we believe he will be able to spearhead the company as well as delivering service excellence to our customers and partners," he said.
