High-level government delegation, industry leadership to showcase Italy's defence strength, expertise at LIMA 2023

KUALA LUMPUR: A high-level delegation from Italy's Ministry of Defence as well as the Italian Navy (Marina Militare Italiana) and leadership of the Italian defence industry will be attending the Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace Exhibition 2023 (LIMA 2023).

The Italian Embassy, in collaboration with the Italian Trade Agency and the office of the Defence Attaché, has coordinated the country's presence at LIMA 2023.

Italy and Malaysia have built strong bonds of friendship over the years, including in the strategic sectors of defence, security, and law enforcement.

The Italian ambassador to Malaysia Massimo Rustico said the delagtion looked forward to exploring new avenues of collaboration at LIMA 2023 and showcasing Italy's advanced expertise and capabilities as a player at global level.

"We continue to strengthen the long-standing relationship between Italy and Malaysia, our participation to LIMA 2023 demonstrates Italy's unwavering commitment to deepening cooperation in the strategic fields of defence, security and law enforcement," Rustico said in a statement today.

The Italian Navy will be showcasing its advanced military vessel, the ITS "Francesco Morosini," which was christened only a few months ago.

The 6,400-tonne, 143-metre-long ship is the second of a class of seven vessels and will be docked at the Port of Langkawi on May 24.

  The participation of the Italian Navy and the Italian Defence industry is expected to provide a platform to explore new avenues of cooperation and further enhance the relationship between the two nations.

It is a significant opportunity for Italy and Malaysia to showcase their capabilities and foster strategic partnerships in these vital sectors.

Meanwhile, the Italian industry will showcase a range of defense advanced technologies including from naval, and aerospace industries.

The Italia pavilion will showcase leading Italian companies such as  Teknel, Sigma Consulting Srl, Elettronica Group, and Electron Source Co.

Italy will be among the leading nations at LIMA 2023 with the presence of truly global players in the naval military and civilian industry such as  Fincantieri and in the aviation, defense, space, electronics and cyber domains such as Leonardo.

The Italia Pavilion is expected to provide visitors with a unique opportunity to explore cutting-edge products and services developed by the Italian defence industry.
