Bursa Malaysia settles higher at midday

KUALA LUMPUR: Bursa Malaysia closed higher at midday supported by bargain hunting activities.

At 12.30pm, FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) rose 0.62 per cent or 9.0 points to 1,460.72 versus 1,451.72 on Tuesday's closing.

The key index, which opened 0.13 per cent or 1.89 points higher at 1,453.61, moved between 1,453.07 and 1,462.04 during the morning trading session.

The broader market saw gainers lead decliners 496 to 353 while 447 counters remained unchanged.

On the index board, FBM100 added 0.62 per cent or 64.8 points to 10,456.92, FBM Emas gained 0.61 per cent or 65.87 points to 10,795.46 and FBM Ace rose 0.23 per cent or 11.66 points to 5,128.08.

Of the actives, Leform Bhd gained 3,92 per cent or one sen to 26.5 sen and Mycron Steel Bhd was up 43.94 per cent or 14.5 sen to 47.5 sen.

On the losing end, Hong Seng Consolidated Bhd was down 10 per cent or half a sen to 4.5 sen and Plytec Holding Bhd dropped 5.71 per cent or two sen to 33 sen.
