Malaysia Airlines restores in-flight catering with new menu [NSTTV]

SEPANG: Malaysia Airlines Bhd has fully restored its in-flight service offerings across all of its flight sectors since the catering transition began on Sept 1, with a new menu.

In November, it will introduce destination-specials on its London and Incheon routes.

From December onwards, its Chef on Call services on selected flights will introduce 'Best of ASEAN' dishes and vegetarian meal offerings from vegetarian chain, Annalakshmi, among others.

The full in-flight offerings resumption was made after the delivery of the remaining 10 hi-lift trucks which started operations end-October.

Malaysia Aviation Group (MAG) group managing director Datuk Captain Izham Ismail said Malaysia Airlines will continue to strengthen its core proposition as a premium airline committing to elevate the onboard dining experience by offering more options, curated offerings and variety to all of its passengers.

"We underwent this much needed transition in our onboard catering to improve our offerings and service delivery while growing our capabilities with customers maintaining as our center of gravity," he said.

Izham was speaking to the media at the reinstatement of Malaysia Airlines' full in-flight service offerings here today.

Malaysia Airlines and its former in-flight caterer Brahim's Food Services Sdn Bhd ended their 26-year partnership on Aug 31.

The national carrier had then embarked on its catering business continuity plan (BCP).

As part of the catering BCP, Malaysia Airlines established a temporary distribution centre, the MAG Catering Operations (MCAT) to manage the assembly of F&B items and the uplifting of meals onboard using the hi-lift trucks.

MAG said the MCAT facility strictly complies with safety standards set by the Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia and local health authorities.

Currently the MCAT operations has a fleet of 24 hi-lift trucks, six freezers, two chillers and two ware wash machines.

Malaysia Airlines is handling an average of 18,000 meals a day via collaboration with its partners.

"As a global airline, Malaysia Airlines sets high standards for our product offerings and services onboard – being the embassy on wings for the country and the champion for Malaysian Hospitality.

"We remain steadfast to innovation, safety, and the highest standards of customer satisfaction," Izham said.

Malaysia Airlines also introduced a menu refresh that offers passengers with delightful choices and destination-inspired dishes.

The airline also improved its service standards as part of its continuous efforts to enhance the overall in-flight dining experience.
