SKS Airways confirms departure of CEO Dzuleira Abu Bakar, reappoints Rohman Ahmad as interim head

KUALA LUMPUR: SKS Airways Sdn Bhd in a statement to a business weekly yesterday confirmed the departure of its chief executive officer Dzuleira Abu Bakar.

According to the statement she resigned on November 10, 2023. SKS Airways did not specify the reason why Dzuleira left just over two months into the job.

The news confirms a Business Times report that Dzuleira had resigned.

According to the statement executive director, and former acting chief executive officer Datuk Rohman Ahmad has been named its interim head with the departure of Dzuleira Abu Bakar.

Business Times learnt that the announcement was made during a townhall with SKS Airways employees yesterday.

Dzuleira, who led government agency Malaysian Research Accelerator for Technology and Innovation previously, had tendered her resignation on Nov 10."Rohman conducted the townhall and he's also the interim CEO of SKS Airways," a source told Business Times.

Checks with Companies Commission of Malaysia (SSM) data show that Rohman, or full name Fahrul Rohman Ahmad, is one of the three directors of SKS Airways.

The other two directors are Ng Pek Hung and Datuk Majid Manjit Abdullah.

The company's alternate director is Alan Sim See Kiong, who is also the chairman of SKS Group. Both Sim and Majid are listed as the shareholders of the airline, while the majority shareholder is SKS Southern Sdn Bhd.

Business Times reported on Nov 20 that Dzuleira was leaving SKS Airwayssearch of an investor and approached two giant airlines in Dubai and Jeddah. The airline had also approached Malaysia Aviation Group but the group as well as the Middle Eastern carriers were not keen.
