Bursa Malaysia closes midday in the red

KUALA LUMPUR: Bursa Malaysia wrapped up the morning session in the red,  with continuing losses led by mid and small-cap stocks.

At 12.30 pm, the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) was 1.93 points lower at 1,451.99 from Friday's closing of 1,453.92.

The index opened 0.77 of-a-point weaker at 1,453.15 and thereafter moved between 1,449.94 and 1,455.78 throughout the morning session.

The market breadth was negative, with decliners leading gainers 564 to 262, while 408 counters were unchanged, 1,176 were untraded, and 48 others were suspended.

Turnover amounted to 1.86 billion units valued at RM1.02 billion.

Among the heavyweight counters, Malayan Banking Bhd lost one sen to RM9.08, Petronas Chemicals Group Bhd fell 18 sen to RM7.12, and Tenaga Nasional Bhd was 13 sen weaker at RM9.87.

Both Public Bank Bhd and CIMB Group Holdings Bhd added one sen each to RM4.26 and RM5.76, respectively.

Of the actives, both Hong Seng Consolidated Bhd and Widad Group Bhd were flat at 2.5 sen and 46.5 sen, respectively, Panda EcoSystem Bhd gained 10 sen to 26 sen, but Top Glove Corp Bhd slid 1.5 sen to 88.5 sen.Ends
