MIA elects Mohamad Zabidi as president

KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA) has elected Datuk Seri Dr. Mohamad Zabidi Ahmad as president and Saniza Said as its new vice president at its recent cuncil meeting.

MIA is the national accountancy body that regulates, develops, supports and enhances the integrity, status and interests of the profession in Malaysia.

In a press statement today, MIA said the appointment of Zabidi and Saniza took effect on Dec 1, 2023.

Datuk Bazlan Osman's term concluded on Nov 30, 2023.

Zabidi has over 38 years of experience in the banking industry, and previously the senior managing director and regional head, Islamic treasury, treasury and markets, group wholesale banking, CIMB Group.

He has been a MIA council member since Dec 15, 2022.

His wealth of experience in banking and Islamic finance is expected to strengthen MIA's advocacy on Islamic finance and its environment, social and governance and sustainability agenda among others.

Presently, he is the senior strategic sdvisor & chief regional representative for Malaysia and SEA at DDCap Limited.

Meanwhile, Saniza is an experienced public practitioner, who is an audit partner of Saniza & Co, with over 25 years of experience in audit, tax and business consultancy.
