Ambank adds Google Pay to cashless services

KUALA LUMPUR: AMMB Holdings Bhd (AmBank) recently integrated Google Pay into its cashless services in line with the bank's commitment to providing its customers with secure, seamless, contactless payment options. 

With the integration of Google Pay, AmBank Visa and Mastercard Credit Card/-i customers can now add their cards to Google Wallet on their Android devices and tap to pay on point of sales (POS) terminals where contactless payments are accepted and easily checkout on e-commerce merchants that offer Google Pay.

In a statement, the bank said the integration of Google Pay is a significant step for AmBank as it continues to stay at the forefront of the financial industry and support the acceleration towards digital payments. 

With the growing prominence of a cashless society, AmBank recognises the importance of offering its customers secure, seamless, and contactless options. 

The bank noted that Google Pay is a widely trusted platform, and AmBank's integration will offer customers an enhanced, safe, and user-friendly payment experience.

AmBank retail banking managing director Aaron Loo said the integration between AmBank and Google Pay is a testament to the bank's continuous efforts to stay at the forefront of the financial industry and support the acceleration towards digital payments and the digital economy.

He said that by amplifying its cashless suite with Google Pay and being the first Malaysian bank to offer both Google Pay and Apple Pay, AmBank positions itself as a leader in providing secure and convenient payment options to its valued customers while actively contributing to the nation's cashless initiatives.

"AmBank's commitment to providing innovative and convenient contactless payment solutions supports the nation's goal of achieving a 90 per cent cashless payment target by 2025, with the current nation's penetration rate ranging from 60 per cent to 70 per cent," he said. 

Google Pay offers secure transactions that are authorised by customers' biometrics or device pins or patterns to unlock. 

It is widely accepted through POS terminals that are contactless. 

Customers can easily get started with Google Pay by provisioning their AmBank Visa and Mastercard Credit Card/i to their Google Wallet via Android devices.

This move is a significant step towards providing customers with a seamless and secure payment experience. Loo said AmBank is proud to be at the forefront of this digital transformation.
