Bursa Malaysia opens lower on cautious regional sentiments

KUALA LUMPUR: Bursa Malaysia opened marginally lower on cautious sentiments prevailing in regional and global markets.

The FTSE Bursa Malaysia (FBM) KLCI opened 0.67 points lower at 1,515.91 points from Friday's 1,516.58 points.

As of 9:46 am, the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) rose by 1.36 points or 0.09 percent to 1,517.94, compared to Friday's closing at 1,516.58.

On the broader market however, losers led gainers 390 to 285, with some 339 counters unchanged.

"We reckon the market undertone is still cautious due to the increasing global volatility, however, the valuation of the FBM KLCI remains attractive, trading at calendar year 2024 (CY24) forward.

"We anticipate the benchmark index to trend within the range of 1,510-1,520 for today," Rakuten Trade Sdn Bhd said.
