KUALA LUMPUR: Tan Sri Datuk Ter Leong Yap has been appointed as chairman of Malaysia Venture Capital Management Bhd (Mavcap) effective from Dec 15 last year.
Mavcap chief executive officer Shahril Anas Aziz highlighted Ter's wealth of entrepreneurship experience and leadership across diverse companies and institutions.
"We look forward to his leadership as we execute our strategic plan to deliver our mandate with the development of local venture capital (VC) talent, establishment of local VC companies and attracting foreign VCs and funding into Malaysia," he added.
Ter's distinguished career includes notable awards such as Property Guru Asia Property Awards Australia 2023 and Star Property Awards in 2023.
In 2017, he received The Edge Billion Ringgit Club Corporate Awards for highest returns to shareholders over three years and Malaysia outstanding property entrepreneurs award.
Additionally, he was honoured with Sin Chew Business Excellence Award's Business Excellence Person of the Year in 2014 and recognised in Forbes Asia's Best Under A Billion Dollar 2020.
With extensive experience as the founder and executive chairman of Sunsuria Group, Ter brings valuable expertise to Mavcap.
He is also the honorary advisor of the National Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Malaysia and holds honorary presidencies in various Chinese chambers of commerce and industry.
