Paparazzi sees surge in demand

KUALA LUMPUR: Artificial Intelligence (AI) is revolutionising industries across the globe, and Malaysia is no exception.

Founder of Paparazzi Photo Booth, Nursyelina Aluwi, said that although AI picture booth technology is popular in the US, there remains unrealised potential in Malaysia.

"Young people are increasingly drawn to avatars and AI-generated headshots. Recognising this trend, we seized the opportunity to introduce one of the first AI-powered photo booth services," she told Business Times.

She said that the idea that AI technology may improve the experience of any event, not just weddings, led to the decision to explore this field.

"Every year, we've seen a surge in demand, not just in the Klang Valley but throughout the country," she said.

Thanks to cutting-edge AI technology, the company, which was founded in 2017, is currently experiencing sales of RM50,000 per month, according to Nursyelina.

"This accomplishment highlights Malaysia's growing need for immersive event entertainment experiences," she said.

Paparazzi offers various services like 360 Video Booth, Ipad Digital Photo Booth, Magic Mirror Booth, and LED 360 Video Booth.

Nursyelina said that as the company continues to innovate and expand its offerings, the company faces its fair share of challenges, particularly concerning currency fluctuations.

She said the depreciation of the ringgit against other currencies poses a significant hurdle for Paparazzi, as it procures all its materials from overseas to ensure stringent quality control standards.

"Despite the challenges posed by currency fluctuations, Paparazzi remains committed to delivering exceptional service and maintaining its reputation for quality and innovation.

"We will continue to explore strategies to mitigate any challenges and keep up with the new trend. For all new small and medium enterprises out there, it's crucial to uphold a standard of excellence in everything you do," she said.
