KUALA LUMPUR: Former Dewan Rakyat Speaker Tan Sri Azhar Azizan Harun (Art Harun) has resigned as chairman of Destini Bhd.
Destini holds a number of Defence Ministry contracts, including a two-year RM222.25 million contract for the supply of non-proprietary aircraft spare parts for the Royal Malaysian Air Force, awarded last year.
In a filing with Bursa Malaysia Securities Bhd, Destini said Azhar resigned due to personal commitments.
Datuk Abd Aziz Sheikh Fadzir has been redesignated as a non-independent non-executive chairman of the company with Azhar's departure.
Azhar leaves the board less than a year after his appointment as first a director in May 2023 and then a non-executive chairman in June 2023.
Azhar was Speaker from July 2020 to December 2022.
Destini's share price was down 11 per cent to four sen a share, as at 9.48am.
