Bursa Malaysia falls into the red at midday mirroring regional markets

KUALA LUMPUR: Bursa Malaysia fell into the red at midday break, mirroring the bearish trend seen across the region.

At 12.30 pm, the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) lost 1.87 points to 1,539.54 from yesterday's 1,541.41.

The market breadth also turned negative, with losers outnumbering gainers by 496 to 460, while 463 stocks remained unchanged.

In terms of index performance, FBM Emas fell by 0.1 per cent to 11,534.84, and FBM 100 declined by 0.02 per cent to 11,183.82.

FBM Hijra decreased by 0.29 per cent to 12,277.26, whereas FBM Ace saw an increase of 0.35 per cent to 4,852.37.

Malacca Securities Sdn Bhd mentioned that buying interest may persist within the Technology sector, influenced by movements in the US stock markets.

"Meanwhile, we favour the commodity-related sectors such as oil and gas (O&G), Plantation and Gold with the anticipation of a softer interest rates environment going forward," it added.s
