Spritzer says its MD was wrongly identified as insider trading offender in news report

KUALA LUMPUR: Spritzer Bhd today said that its managing director Datuk Lim Kok Boon has been mistakenly identified as an insider trading offender in a news report.

In a filing with Bursa Malaysia Securities Bhd, the company said Datuk Lim Kok Boon has been wrongly implicated in a case of mistaken indentity due to both parties having the same name.

On Monday, the Securities Commission of Malaysia said the High Court ruled in favour of its civil suit in an insider trading civil suit filed against former chief executive officer of GW Plastics Holdings Bhd, Lim Kok Boon and Cheah Mean Har.

Spritzer in its announcement today said a news article wrongly identified Datuk Lim Kok Boon as the offender named in the SC's suit.

"Our managing director, Lim has not committed any "insider trading" offence and neither has he been ordered to pay any civil penalty for an insider trading breach by any party," the filing with Bursa Malaysia Securities said.

Sprizter's share price was up 0.85 per cent to RM2.36 a share as at midday break.
