Learning the basics via 'Polo P'

VOLKSWAGEN Passenger Cars Malaysia Sdn Bhd (VPCM), the distributor of Volkswagen cars in Malaysia, has continued its well-received “Polo P” project with new venues for participants in the Klang Valley as well as the northern and southern regions.

The “Polo P” project was developed to educate and empower new drivers with skills and knowledge to stay safe on the road.

It was launched in March and has garnered more than 250 participants, consisting of students from private tertiary institutions and young adults in the Klang Valley.

The project takes place at selected colleges and university campuses over the course of a weekend.

Participants are taught about basic car maintenance, visual checkpoints, proper sitting and steering positions and defensive driving, which includes emergency braking and a slalom course.

All driving exercises are conducted in the Volkswagen Polo 1.6L hatchback, which may be small in stature but is certainly big on fun.

Upcoming project dates and locations are:

• July 8 and 9 at Taylor’s Lakeside Campus, Subang Jaya, Selangor;

• August 19 and 20 at Sunway College, Johor Baru;

• September 30 and October 1 at Universiti Malaya, Kuala Lumpur;

• October 21 and 22 at Universiti Teknologi Mara, Shah Alam; and,

• October 28 and 29 at Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman campus, Kampar, Perak.

In line with the “Polo P” project, VPCM is running “My First Polo” programme for first-time car buyers where interested participants can purchase a Volkswagen Polo 1.6L from RM470(*) a month through Volkswagen’s leading partnering bank.

* The amount is based on a nine-year loan instalment with 10 per cent downpayment and step-up financing programme with an annual interest rate of 3.7 per cent.
