Honda City Sport Hybrid open for booking

Honda Malaysia Sdn Bhd has announced that the new Honda City Sport Hybrid i-DCD is now open for booking at all its 91 dealers nationwide.

With this launch, Malaysia has once again become the only country outside of Japan to introduce this new powertrain in a City.

This is also in line with the company’s strategy to focus on the next generation advanced technology.

The new City Hybrid is the second hybrid model that Honda Malaysia introduced this year after the Jazz Hybrid. It is also the company’s fifth new model in its product line-up for 2017.

It is powered by a 1.5L double over-head cam i-VTEC engine mated to a 7-speed dual clutch transmission (DCT) with an integrated high power motor. Both the combustion engine and the motor produce up to 135hp and 170Nm of torque that is equivalent to a 1.8L engine.

In terms of fuel efficiency, Honda Malaysia claims that the New European Driving Cycle UN R101 test result for the City Hybrid is 3.9L per 100km. It also uses a lithium ion battery, which has a higher capacity and is more durable.

Its DCT employs the electronic gear shifting system of Shift-by-Wire Gear, to give a sporty and quicker response feel, allowing drivers to enjoy a smooth ride during gear transition with no lag or clutch slip.

The new City Hybrid comes equipped with paddle shifters, 3D meter design instrument cluster, 6.8-inch display audio, touch panel air-conditioning, daytime running lights, LED tail lights and 16-inch dual tone alloy wheels. It also has 536L of boot space, even with the intelligent power unit battery placed underneath it.

As for safety aspects of the car, the new City Hybrid comes with four airbags, anti-lock braking system, vehicle stability assist, reverse camera and emergency stop signal.

There are three exterior body colours to choose from — Lunar Silver Metallic, Modern Steel Metallic and White Orchid Pearl.

Every purchase of the new City Hybrid comes with a 5-year unlimited mileage warranty and 10,000km service intervals. It has an additional eight-year warranty for its lithium ion battery. The New City Hybrid is priced at RM89,200 without insurance.

Customers can view and test drive the new City Hybrid at 46 dealers nationwide. Customers can also view the list of dealers by logging on to Honda Malaysia’s official website at www.honda.com.my.
