Mercedes-Benz Malaysia launch S 560 e, preview C 300 e and EQC suv

KUALA LUMPUR: Mercedes-Benz Malaysia unveiled the S 560 e today, the company's first ever S-Class plug-in-hybrid to be sold here.

At the event, MBM also presented the C 300 e saloon and made the South East Asian premiere for the EQC, Mercedes-Benz's new all-electric SUV. All three products are marketed under the Mercedes-Benz EQ branding.

Priced at RM658,888, the S 560 e has a power output of 350 kW via a combination of 270 kW from a 3.0 litre V6 petrol engine and 90 kW from an electric motor, which accelerates it from 0-100kph in 5 seconds.

The S 560 e has an all-electric range of up to 50 km with a new lithium-ion battery that has an increased rated capacity of 13.5 kWh.

The new C 300 e is powered by a 2-litre, 4-cylinder in-line petrol engine with peak output of 155 kW at 5,500 rpm and peak torque of 350 Nm at 1,200 – 1,400 rpm.

It is also equipped with a 90 kW electric motor and a new 13.5 kWh Li-ion battery with 111% increase in capacity compared to its previous battery generation, giving a total output of 235 kW at 4,500 – 5,500 rpm, and peak torque of 700 Nm.

This enables the C 300 e to do the century run in 5.4 seconds, with a top speed of 250 kph.

Mercedes-Benz's EQC on the other hand is an all electric sports utility vehicle powered by two electric motors at the front and rear axles with a total output of 300 kW.

With a whopping 760Nm of torque, the EQC accelerates to 100kph in 5.1 seconds, and has a top speed of 180kph.

Equipped with a 80Kwh battery, the EQC has a range of about 450 km
