BMW Motorrad introduce F 850 GS Adventure, R 1250 GS and R 1250 GS Adventure

KUALA LUMPUR: BMW Motorrad recently widened their portfolio of premium motorcycles in Malaysia with the introduction of the new BMW F 850 GS Adventure, R 1250 GS and R 1250 GS Adventure.

The F 850 GS Adventure is priced at RM88,500, while the R 1250 GS and R 1250 GS Adventure will retail at RM116,500 and RM125,500 respectively.

Prices are inclusive of three-year warranty and three-year roadside assistance programmes.

Owen Riley, head of BMW Motorrad Malaysia, meanwhile, added, “The GS Adventure models have stood for distinctive, powerful and reliable propulsion when it comes to dynamic riding, no matter the terrain.

"Today, as we introduce the new BMW F 850 GS Adventure, BMW R 1250 GS and BMW R 1250 GS Adventure, we are proud to present the new advanced engines and off-road capabilities of our premium motorcycles in the middle-class adventure segment.”

BMW F 850 GS Adventure

The new BMW F 850 GS Adventure is the addition to the F 850 GS introduced earlier, sitting on top of the range.

The adventure bike is propelled by the similar 853 cc engine capable of producing 95hp at 8,250rpm and 92Nm of torque at 6,250rpm.

With the new anti-hopping clutch and a six-speed gearbox, the F 850 GS Adventure has a top speed of 197kph.

It features uprated equipment including two-step adjustable windshield, hand protectors, and upside-down telescopic fork with aluminium double-sided swinging arm.

Other additions are LED headlights as well as 6.5-inch full-colour TFT screen for connectivity function.

The ergonomics focus on off-road riding, with wide footrests, adjustable sift and foot brake levers, engine protection bars and stainless steel luggage rack all as standard.

In terms of safety, the R 850 GS Adventure gets Rain and Road riding modes along with BMW Motorrad Anti-lock Brake System (ABS) and the Automatic Stability Control (ASC).

BMW R 1250 GS and R 1250 GS Adventure

Moving to the new 1250-series, the new adventure-oriented bikes get their powers from the boxer 1,254 cc engine with ShiftCam technology.

With injection via the new twin-jet injection valves that support greater refinement and improved emission levels, the engine now makes 136hp at 7,750rpm and 143Nm of torque at 6,250rpm.

Standard equipment for the R 1250 GS include BMW Keyless Ride and two riding modes – Rain and Road – ASC, latest-gen Electronic Suspension Dynamic ESA, cruise control, TFT instrument panel and Shift Assistant Pro.

The R 1250 GS Adventure is further-equipped with engine cover and side panel, steel rack, larger tank capacity of 30-litres and longer suspension travels.

Optionally, customers may opt their R 1250 GS bikes with Riding Modes Pro, Dynamic Traction Control, ABS Pro, Hill Start Control Pro and the new Dynamic Brake Assistant.
