Honda Msia maintains lead position in first half of 2019

KUALA LUMPUR: Honda Malaysia maintained its position as leader in the non-national car segment in Malaysia, and stood second in overall total industry volume (TIV), for the first half of 2019.

The carmaker registered sales of more than 44,200 units during the period, or 15.3 per cent of market share. The highest sales figure was recorded in May, with more than 10,500 units.

The City was announced as the most popular model in the B-segment, covering 34 per cent of overall sales.

The next bestseller is the HR-V, which was refreshed in January this year, achieving 20 per cent of total sales. This is followed by the CR-V, contributing 14 per cent to total sales.

Honda's line-up, namely the Jazz, City HR-V, CR-V and BR-V, continue to lead in their respective segments.

Honda Malaysia managing director and chief executive officer, Toichi Ishiyama, said: “I want to take this opportunity to thank all Malaysians for their continuous support and trust in the Honda brand. The first half of 2019 has been challenging, but encouraging, for us. The Civic reached a milestone of 130,000 units sold, while the Jazz delivered the 100,000th unit to its owner.

“It is truly inspiring for us to see how these two models have become favourites among Malaysians and we are hoping to achieve more milestones this year. Honda will continue to offer products which are of good quality and advanced technologies as we strive to deliver the best for Malaysians and share the joy of owning a Honda to all our customers.”

Honda Malaysia also introduced the Tech Frontier Rewards campaign, which rewards customers as they familiarise themselves with Honda’s Next Generation Advanced Technology, including Honda SENSING, Turbo and Sport Hybrid i-DCD.

The campaign offers a Honda bonus, Tech Month bonus and exclusive gift worth up to RM5,000. It is applicable to all models except the Civic Type-R and runs from now until Sept 30.
