KUALA LUMPUR: Car ownerships in Malaysia are generally associated with financial plans ranging from five to nine years.
But what if you could own a car without such a commitment, loans and all the hassle of service and maintenance?
In this day and age, there’s plenty of car ownership solutions offering various “mobility” plans.
The latest one in town being Flux, an all-inclusive monthly car subscription service.
All you have to do is pay a monthly fee to drive a car of your choice. No downpayment, no debt, no headache.
Flux offers a wide variety of cars to be chosen according to members’ needs, even if they change over time.
According to the founder and chief executive officer of Flux, Aziz Ayman, it is unbelievable that in 2019, the only financially attractive way a Malaysian can have access to a car 24/7 all year round is through a hire purchase loan.
He said: “From my time in Silicon Valley, I observed first hand how the tech industry was disrupting the mobility space. In essence, consumers are being empowered to make better decisions with less compromise.
“At Flux, we are excited to pioneer a new means to access all the benefits of having a car in your driveway, without the costs.

To subscribe to Flux, members can browse through the available cars from the conveniently accessible platform at www.driveflux.com.
From there, members are allowed to subscribe to a specific car.
Once the car is selected, they then choose a subscription plan which starts at month-to-month for total flexibility or up to three years for best value.
Subscription plans indicate how long members intend to use the Flux service, not a specific car as they have the privilege to switch throughout their subscription.
There’s also a mileage package option, namely Lite, Standard and Unlimited which offer a monthly maximum of 1,250km, 2,000km and unlimited mileages respectively.
The rest of the car-related administrative and maintenance matters will be assisted by Flux’s concierge service, including annual document renewals.
One key advantage of Flux is the freedom to switch cars after a minimum of one month of use with just a flat switching fee.
On top of that, Flux offers three-day Risk Free Returns in case the member find that the cars do not suit them well.
Any Malaysian and non-Malaysian are allowed to become Flux members, provided that they have a Malaysian credit card, mobile contact number and are more than 25 years old.
At the moment, the cars available at Flux include the Honda CR-V, BMW 6 Series GT, Toyota Yaris, Volvo XC40, Mercedes-AMG CLA 45 and Kia Sportage.
In case of an emergency, should members be involved in an accident, the telematics device will be triggered, and emergency service as well as medical attention will be provided.
