10th generation Honda Accord opens for booking nationwide

KUALA LUMPUR: Japanese auto marque Honda Malaysia Sdn Bhd’s flagship model - the all-new Accord, is now open for booking at all 100 Honda dealerships nationwide.

The 10th generation Accord is set to be launched in Malaysia in the first-quarter this year lifting the benchmark in its segment as a next generation executive sedan.

Honda Malaysia managing director and chief executive officer Toichi Ishiyama said the introduction of the Accord would further excite the market and its segment with class-leading and highly-competitive advanced technology features.

“The much-anticipated Accord is set to move the yardstick for next generation sedans with its unmatched performance, stylish and premium design as well as cutting-edge technology and safety features,” he said in a statement today.

Ishiyama said the new Accord is equipped with an enhanced turbocharged engine, placing Honda as the only Japanese mass market manufacturer to introduce the powerful engine in D-segment.

“We are confident that the new Accord will bring immense excitement to the market, especially those who seek a sedan with complete premium package,” he added.

Having sold more than 84,100 units to date, the Accord was positioned as an executive sedan in Malaysia, since it was first launched in Malaysia in 2001.

The company said the Accord continued to raise the standards in the D-segment with the launch of 9th generation Accord in 2013, having sold more than 32,500 units and maintained its position as the market leader.

In 2017, Honda Malaysia introduced the next generation advanced safety feature, Honda Sensing in the 9th generation Accord, which further redefined the premium features in its class.

The new Accord’s new exterior design comes with sharp and stylish full LED headlights and taillights that further uplifts the premium design expression.

Meanwhile, its wider stance is coupled with lower hood as well as lower and longer roofline to achieve greater dynamic presence.

Adding to its overall premium exterior is the twin tailpipe chrome finisher and uniquely Honda 18” alloy wheels with resonator.

Performance-wise, the new Accord is powered by an enhanced 1.5-litre VTEC Turbocharged engine, the first for the flagship model that offers maximum power output of 201PS and maximum torque of 260Nm.

Honda Malaysia said the enhanced turbocharged engine gives more efficient power distribution and improved fuel efficiency.

This expansion of the next generation advanced technology offered also sees Honda adding advanced safety features that will raise the bar in the D-segment.

The new Accord comes with the full-suite of Honda Sensing comprising eight features adaptive cruise control, low speed follow, auto high-beam, forward collision warning, collision mitigation braking system, lane keep assist system, road departure mitigation and lane departure warning.
