Xperia XZ Premium: Sony's first smartphone with Bravia TV tech

KUALA LUMPUR: For the first time in a smartphone, Sony is incorporating its Bravia TV technology into its latest flagship, Xperia XZ Premium.

To top this off, Sony has partnered with Amazon Prime Video to offer a selection of 4K HDR films and TV shows for users, including Amazon Originals series.

The smartphone is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor which also supports graphics-intensive gaming, and works with the PlayStation 4, so you can play games from your console on your smartphone.

Sony has incorporated technology from its premium compact cameras to create the new Motion Eye rear camera system on the Xperia XZ Premium.

The camera has 19MP back camera and 13MP front lens, with its "memory stacked image sensor" capable of recording in HD at a rate of 960 frames per second, allowing you to create videos and play them back in super slow motion - four times slower than on other smartphones.

Officially launched today, Sony Malaysia also introduces its mid-range flagship, Xperia XA1 Ultra.

It’s the bigger sibling to the XA1, packing most of the same hardware in a larger form factor, with a couple of improvements including a 6-inch edge-to-edge display.

Xperia XA1 Ultra offers 23MP rear camera and 16MP front camera to cater for selfie lovers. It also allows perfect selfie easily with just a wave via the 'hand shutter' feature.

The nationwide preorder for both phones will begin today until June 4, at RM3,399 for the Xperia XZ Premium and RM1,899 for Xperia XA1 Ultra.

Sony Mobile is also partnering with online marketplace, 11street once again for an exclusive pre-order. For every pre-order, customers will be receiving gifts worth a total of RM728 and RM328.

The Xperia XZ Premium will be available in Luminous Chrome and Deepsea Black, with Bronze Pink to be available at a later date while the Xperia XA1 Ultra comes in choices of White, Black, Pink and Gold.
