8 is enough: Nokia 8 shoves aside selfies, wefies with the "bothie"

PUTRAJAYA: Nokia, through HMD Global, has taken the cultural phenomenon of selfies and wefies to a new level with the “bothie.”

Bothie is a new photo and video capability that comes with the company's latest Android smartphone, the Nokia 8.

It enables Dual-Sight video to be livestreamed natively and in real-time to social feeds such as Facebook and YouTube.

Dual-Sight means the phone can simultaneously harness both the front and rear cameras in a split-screen visual for both photos and videos.

"With just one touch, this world-first livestream capability gives more immersive experiences for those who love to create and share special memories," said HMD Global's country manager (Malaysia and Myanmar), Vijay Thangavelu.

"Designed to meet the demands of content creators, the Nokia 8 is our flagship smartphone which perfectly balances premium design, an outstanding experience and powerful performance.

“With millions of photos and videos shared every minute on social media, it’s even easier now for fans to create and share live content – enabling everyone to see both sides of the story – thanks to the Nokia 8’s Dual-Sight video and integrated Facebook Live feature," he said.

The phone marks Nokia's collaboration with Zeiss optics for its cameras (front and back), with 13MP cameras with F2.0 aperture.

It also uses the Pure Android operating system, Android Nougat 7.1.1.

The Nokia 8 is also the first smartphone to feature Nokia OZO Audio, placing exclusive Hollywood technology in the palm of your hand.

The OZO spatial 360-degree audio brings a fully-immersive audio experience to your 4K video. Leading-edge 360-degree audio capture ensures that video playback lets you truly relive a moment, so your memories never fade.

On the hardware side, the 5.3 inch Nokia 8 comes in a seamless unibody that is made from a single block of 6000 series aluminium.

Under the hood is the SnapdragonTM 835 Mobile Platform, which ensures the best performance. It reportedly delivers 11 hours of 4K video playback on a single charge.

The Nokia 8 is available now in Polished Blue, Polished Copper, Tempered Blue and Steel at RM 2,299.
