Song Ji-hyo draws large crowd at Galaxy Note 8 launch

KUALA LUMPUR: Running Man lead actress Song Ji-hyo launched the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 to a huge crowd of screaming fans, some who had turned up at Pavilion KL from as early as 7am to get a glimpse of the Korean beauty.

Waving and smiling at the crowd, Song demonstrated Live Message, a unique feature of Note 8 to thousands of her adoring fans. Live Message allows users to write animated texts or drawings using Note 8’s refined S Pen. Users can even share these expressive messages across any platform that supports GIFs.

Besides the enhanced S Pen, Note 8 also boasts a 6.3-inch Quad HD+ Super AMOLED Infinity Display – the biggest screen on a Note device – that gives users less need to scroll and more room to watch, read and draw. Another noteworthy feature to look out for is the Note 8’s dual 12-megapixel rear cameras, one a wide-angle while the other a telephoto lens, that allows users to zoom better or apply the bokeh effect to their images.

"People are consistently striving to do bigger and better things; and their relentless passion and spirit to achieve more has inspired us to design the new Note to ultimately help people reach their goals and potentials,” said KM Liew, Samsung Malaysia Electronics, head of IT and mobile business.

Users can do more with Note 8’s new App Pair feature where they can select a custom pair of apps and simultaneously launch both apps with ease.

In terms of security feature, users can opt for iris or fingerprint scanning to unlock the smartphone. Like its predecessor, Note 8 is also dust and water-resistant, and with the enhanced S Pen, users can even write when the display is wet.

The Galaxy Note 8 is retailing at RM3,999 and is available in three colour options, Midnight Black, Orchid Gray and Maple Gold.
