New high-end phones from Sony

KUALA LUMPUR: Sony Mobile Communications unveils two new high-end smartphones under its flagship range - Xperia XZ2 and Xperia XZ2 Compact.

Launched at the recent Mobile World Congress 2018, both models provide huge advancements in camera, display, audio technology, and even new design that's comfortable to hold.

Sony has finally ditched its trademark OmniBalance design and make the transition to a new design which is called the “Ambient Flow”, where its corners are more rounder and curvier.

Both models have an 18:9 aspect ratio display, resulting in smaller bezels at the top and bottom of the screen.

The Xperia XZ2 has an extended 5.7-inch Full HD+ while the XZ2 Compact boasts a 5-inch Full HD+ display.

The two models are powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 platform, runs Android 8.0 Oreo, equipped with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage.

They also feature USB Type-C and support Qi wireless charging but both devices discarded the 3.5mm headphone jack.

In terms of power, the XZ2 features a larger battery capacity of 3180mAh and XZ2 Compact has a 2870mAh cell.

Photography wise, both phones feature a 19MP rear camera, 5MP front camera, capable of 4K HDR, and 960fps FHD slow-motion video recording, including 3D creator on board.

The Xperia XZ2 and Xperia XZ2 Compact are priced at RM3,299 and RM2,899 respectively.

Fans can grab a special pre-order bundle for Xperia XZ2 worth up to RM1,088, until April 4, before both the phones hit the stores from mid-April.

The gifts include a Sony ZX770BN wireless noise-cancelling headphones, a hardshell premium backpack, Sony exclusive Touch n Go card with RM100 pre-loaded, a phone case, and screen protector.
