DJI unveils Mavic 2 Pro and Mavic 2 Zoom

KUALA LUMPUR: DJI, consumer drones and aerial imaging technology maker, has released two new Mavic series - the Mavic 2 Pro and Mavic 2 Zoom.

The Mavic 2 series remain as DJI's most advanced camera drone in its line up and the new Mavic 2 Pro now features an integrated Hasselblad camera.

Meanwhile, the Mavic 2 Zoom is world's first foldable consumer drone with optical zoom capability.

"When Mavic Pro was launched two years ago, it redefined the way people looked at drone and today, we enter new era of aerial photography that enables photographers and videographers elevate their creativity to new heights," says DJI's global director of communication, Kevin On.

Co-engineered with Hasselblad, the Mavic 2 Pro camera houses a 1-inch CMOS sensor with 10-bit Dlog-M colour profile for superior light and colour performance. It is able to capture 20-megapixel aerial shots using Hasselblad Natural Colour Solution (HNCS) technology with adjustable aperture from f/2.8-f/11, 4K 10-bit HDR support.

Powered by a 1/2.3-inch CMOS sensor and a lens with two-times optical zoom (24-48mm), the Mavic 2 Zoom allows you to get closer to your subject. Its hybrid auto-focus combines phase and contrast detection for higher focus accuracy with increased focus speed of up to 40 per cent more.

Besides that, the Mavic 2 Zoom can take vivid 12-megapixel photos with the new Super Resolution feature, which is the world's first zoom-able foldable drone that can automatically capture and stitch nine photos together for a highly detailed 48-megapixel image.

The Mavic 2 Zoom is now equipped with a new Hyperlapse feature which enables users to shoot photos that show the passing of time and can be shared on social media immediately. JPEG and RAW photos can also be stored simultaneously on either the Micro SD card or the 8GB internal storage.

For first time flyer, the DJI GO 4 mobile app will help you fly the drone. Choose between Circle, Course Lock, Waypoint or Free mode for automatic setting of shooting videos. The Active Track 2.0 on Mavic 2 delivers powerful combination of autonomous tracking and obstacle sensing capabilities, creating a three-dimensional map of an area. It also analyses motion to predict a subject's path up to three second ahead, recognises and avoids obstacles. The Mavic 2 will stay focused on the subject even when it goes momentarily behind an obstacle all at a maximum speed of 72km/h.

Besides that, the Mavic 2 is DJI's first drone that has 10 sensors on all sides of the aircraft for accurate obstacles detection, allowing flyer to focus on capturing the perfect shot.

With the newly designed OcuSync 2.0 video transmission system ensures more stable connection between the drone and its remote controller for up to 8km.

The Mavic 2 have more aerodynamic airframe that reduces body drag by up to 19 per cent, allowing it to fly up to 72km/h on Sport mode. The combination of a quieter propulsion system and noise reducing propellers allows the Mavic 2 to fly up to 31 minutes.

The retail price for Mavic 2 Pro, which includes the drone, battery, remote control, charger and four pairs of propellers is RM6,599, while the Mavic 2 Zoom is at RM5,699. Both Mavic 2 drones will be available from end of September through DJI's authorised sales channels including ECS Astar Sdn Bhd.
