#TECH: First impression of the Samsung Galaxy S20 series

KUALA LUMPUR: We've got to test the newly-launched Samsung Galaxy S20 phones at Samsung's Experience store in the Gardens Mid Valley today.

And they are pretty awesome, especially the camera capabilty.

The Galaxy S20 introduces an entirely new camera system, which is powered by AI and with biggest image sensor yet.

From the brief test, we could see how the larger image sensor available on the phones can produce better image quality, with details. Another benefit is that the larger sensors take in more light, so you get rich image quality even in low light situations.

The S20 and S20+ have a 64MP camera while the S20 Ultra has 108MP camera. With the Galaxy S20’s Space Zoom technology that uses a combination of Hybrid Optic Zoom and Super Resolution Zoom, which includes AI-powered digital zoom, it allows users to zoom up to 30X zoom on the Galaxy S20 and S20+ and 100X zoom on the S20 Ultra. We even tested the S20 Ultra 100X zoom capability, and the result is pretty neat.

Another interesting feature that we find on the S20 is its Pro-grade filming capability. The phone is capable of offering 8K videos, so users can capture true-to-life colour and quality.

The video features super steady and anti-rolling stabilisation and AI motion analysis.

Samsung said the Galaxy S20 is built based on how people use phones today.

For example, the integration between Spotify and Bixby Routines allows users to enjoy personalised soundtrack, and with Music Share, users can pair their phone to their car stereo or speaker using Bluetooth connectivity.

As the phone comes with 5G capability, it enhances video chatting experience through a deep integration with Google Duo and FHD quality. Now that Samsung has partnered with YouTube, uploading 8K videos directly to trhe channel becomes easy and fast.

Besides that, users can also discover Netflix’s best-in-class content through an improved integration with Galaxy devices, enabling ease of content discovery and accessibility via Samsung Daily, Bixby and Finder.

In the gaming department, users are said to have a smoother gaming experience with the phones' 120Hz display.

Samsung, partnering with Microsoft, will launch the popular Forza Street in the Galaxy Store, marking the first time the game is coming to mobile. Combined with a fast processor, 12GB of RAM, audio tuned by AKG and a game booster working in the background to optimize settings for peak performance, the Galaxy S20 offers a powerful gaming experience.

The Galaxy S20 series is available through pre-order which starts today (Feb 12, 2020) at 5pm until Feb 26, 2020 or while stocks last.

The phones are priced at RM3,599 (S20), RM3,999 (S20+) and RM4,999 for the S20 Ultra, pre-order purchase of S20+ and S20 Ultra will receive a Galaxy Buds+ worth RM599.
