Repair and relax

A shampoo and treatment set from Lux Luminique addresses bad hair days.

DID I ever mention that my hair has the ability to predict the weather? In fact, it’s so well-tuned to weather changes that I can always tell when it’s going to rain.

The minute my hair turns frizzy in the morning with the ends twisting in odd directions, I know for sure we’re in for a downpour.

Humidity wrecks havoc on curly or wavy hair. You end up with locks that look so messy people would assume you don’t own a hairbrush.

The rainy season is the time I deal with bad hair weeks not days and the only solution (apart from a good blow dry) is to use loads of anti-frizz products and even opt for a shampoo that combats frizz.

BYE TO BAD HAIR

Lux Luminique Damage Repair shampoo has a rich, creamy lather and comes in a lovely ruby red bottle with a pump dispenser for easy use.

This silicone-free shampoo has a silky smooth texture that literally coats the hair upon application.

Much richer than similar brands, the creamy foam prevents friction and reduces damage during your hair care ritual.

The only drawback to this is that while rinsing, you have that uneasy feeling of not having got all the shampoo off the scalp.

The same applies to the Lux Luminique Damage Repair rinse-off treatment.

It has rose oil and Argan oil. Rose oil is commonly used in perfumery while Argan oil is known for its moisturising and nourishing properties.

I only needed to use a little bit of this treatment product after my shampoo to get the results I wanted.

GETTING RICH
It’s really rich so using too much will result in flat, limp hair and because both these haircare products have a rich and creamy texture, they are not for those who like that squeaky clean feel after a shampoo.

Don’t get me wrong. This shampoo and treatment set does clean well but its texture may not be appealing to everyone, especially those who have oily hair.

For me, the results — after I allowed my hair to just air-dry — were certainly pleasing. I had expected my fine but wavy hair to look flat given the rich texture of the product but it had more bounce and body than normal.

My waves didn’t look frizzed out but instead were well-defined and smooth even without blow drying.

This is a great shampoo and treatment set for days when your hair needs some extra help to get in shape.

For me, it worked best on days when my hair looked and felt frizzy and unmanageable.

However, I wouldn’t use it as my everyday shampoo because I do have an oily scalp which can get more greasy if I use products which are too creamy in texture.

However, for women with dry, damaged hair, this will be a life saver that will keep those bad hair days at bay.
