FRENCH clothing company Lacoste has made the brand’s first venture into the streetwear scene here with the release of Court Slam.

The shoe made its debut at this year’s biggest sneaker event, SneakerLAH 2019. Youth culture has been monopolising the face of retail over the last few years, and the rise of streetwear has been inescapable. Thus, the brand sees this as an opportunity to tap into a new market.

“Despite the competitive nature of the streetwear market, we see it as a way to differentiate ourselves from our competitors,” says Jolyn Tan, senior marketing executive for Lacoste Singapore and Malaysia.

“This was a huge leap but we have the necessary tools and experience. If anything, expanding into this area will not only help us grow bigger, but eventually become a household name here,” she adds.

THE NINETIES REVIVAL

Deftly combining tennis codes with the current dictates of streetwear fashion, Court Slam catches the eye with its retro look and chunky sole.

Inspired by Tennis 91, one of the iconic models plucked from the brand’s archives, Court Slam asserts a unique personality. Born on tennis courts in the 1990s, it is being revived today as a lifestyle sneaker with a daring and contemporary aesthetic.

Court Slam has a leather upper with suede insets which were Inspired by the grip of a tennis racket, its perforated upper gives it a casual, sporty look while retaining its original technology for optimum stability and comfort.

Striking a balance between heritage and modernity, Lacoste embraces the 90s revival to align Court Slam with the spirit of the time, an era when performance and elegance went hand in hand.

Court Slam retails at RM479. It is available exclusively at selected Lacoste boutiques.
