Aesop ventures into sustainable fashion with Raeburn

Australian skin and beauty care label Aesop has partnered with Raeburn, a brand in responsible fashion design and circularity.

The first joint venture, which will drop in January, has been created with post-Covid-19 customer needs in mind and will speak to the brands' shared principles around practicality, functionality and purpose.

Established by Christopher Raeburn in 2009, Raeburn has brought responsible design to a global audience and presents a new definition of luxury with integrity. Its Raemade philosophy has pioneered the reworking of surplus fabrics and garments to create innovative and utilitarian pieces.

This approach, with an unusual balance of high concept, accessibility and wearability, will manifest in the first collaboration with Aēsop.

A NEW APPROACH

Aesop chief marketing officer Adam Kakembo says the brand approached Raeburn with the idea for a collaborative project, "having long admired Christopher's ability to blend utility and convenience with aesthetic desirability."

"With a shared commitment to responsible design, we have created a concept inspired by the needs of our customer as they navigate the new normal,"

Creative director Christopher Raeburn says he wants to create "something truly innovative for the market".

"Above everything we wanted to provide a truly unique, responsibly designed product which would provide the perfect companion for our naturally curious customers in the rapidly changing world of today,"

The union comes as Aēsop continues to evolve its approach to design, applying sustainable and circular principles to transform its products, packaging and operations.
