There's definitely been an uptick in the use of the "clean beauty" phrase in the industry of late, with more skincare and make-up companies offering products that have less environmental impact.
For Canadian brand Bite Beauty, its definition of clean beauty is all about bringing together superfoods with performance.
The brand, which is popular in the United States and Australia, has officially made its debut in the Malaysian market last month, much to the delight of beauty junkies who have been following the journey of this brand since it was established in 2011.
Bite Beauty, which was acquired by Kendo, LVMH's beauty brand incubator in 2014, is parked under Sephora's Clean at Sephora category.
Clean at Sephora is where the beauty store curates partnerships with brands across skin care, hair care, fragrance and cosmetics that are free from unwanted ingredients, such as parabens and sulfates, among others.
"Bite make-up and lip care harness the power of ingredients that are rich in the stuff your skin craves — antioxidants, vitamins, fatty acids and more — to deliver vivid colour, sensorial textures and high-performance wear," says the brand.
When you think of superfoods, think of food like the wild African mango, maqui berries that are high in antioxidants, nourishing cocoa butter, passionflower that hydrates the skin and papaya extract.
There are a range of products for the complexion, lips and eyes. For the face, check out the Changemaker Skin-Optimising Primer, which is fuelled by a blend of olive oil and hyaluronic acid, and the Changemaker Supercharged Micellar Foundation, which is an influencer favourite. The product is sensitive skin-friendly and is lightweight and easy to apply. It is available in 32 shades.
Other products for the face include the Changemaker Flexible Coverage Pressed Powder and Daycation Whipped Blush.
Highlights from the lips section include the Yaysayer Plumping Lip Gloss and Power Move Creamy Matte Lip Crayon, while items like Upswing Full-Volume Mascara and Upswing Extreme Longwear Eyeliner are available for the eyes.
