Jasmine Kang's foray into skincare started with her own issues with acne. For more than a decade, the founder of Singapore-based Skinlycious battled acne so she researched and learned ways to balance her skin.
There's no one-way-fits-all method to treat acne and acne-prone skin, she says. "Acne is multi-factorial. Factors such as diet, lifestyle, genetics, skincare and make-up products that we use on our face may affect acne. Hormonal changes affect the condition too," she adds.

"We then worked to come up with a vitamins-based spot corrector. This helped another group of people. Just last December, I was thrilled to be able to find a solution for people suffering from acne triggered by weakened skin barrier," she says.
USE A MOISTURISER
Kang's acne advice is for a person to use a moisturiser even when he or she has acne. "I wasn't able to find any moisturiser that didn't cause a breakout and I had a deep wrinkle on my forehead in my early 20s.
