#FASHION: Trendy up north

FASHION will take centre stage in the nation's "rice bowl" next month with the launch of the sixth edition of Kedah Fashion Week.

The much anticipated fashion event, from Aug 4-6, at the Aman Central shopping complex in Alor Setar, promises a three day dazzling fashion extravaganza that celebrates all things trendy in the northern region.

This year's event, with the theme "Big Bang", promises unforgettable experiences for visitors and visually stunning showcases.

Attendees can look forward to a line-up of events that feature both emerging and established local and international designers, fashion labels and lifestyle brands.

Everything, from modern minimalism, avant-garde flourishes and intricate traditional Kedah garments, to quiet luxury and high end jewellery, will feature at the event which explores the northern region's diverse fashion identity.

"Fashion is intrinsically individualistic, serving as a form of self expression. With this understanding, we strive to cater to every stylistic preference and taste, showcasing the creations of over 15 talented local and international designers," says Belleview Group COO of retail and commercial, Lawrence Te'h.

Over 90 per cent of the models gracing the stage during Kedah Fashion Week will be locals, to reflect the beauty and inherent talents of Malaysians.

Among the prominent designers and fashion houses participating in the event include Ikmal Mukmin, Daniel Zharif, Naemah Khuntum and the captivating duo of Seth & Luna.

Thai designer, Kanapot Aunsorn, will also be participating, as well as Yadanar, from Myanmar.
