PUTRAJAYA: His meteoric career rise has quickly established Fattah Amin as a household name in the country.
So it was hardly a surprise when the dashing actor was crowned Most Popular Artiste at the Anugerah Bintang Popular Berita Harian (ABPBH) 2016 last night.
He received the grand prize, a Peugeot 408 worth RM150,000, and a trophy at the fan choice award ceremony that took place at the Putrajaya International Convention Centre here.
He also took home the awards for Popular Television Actor, Sensational Artiste, and Popular TV On-Screen Couple with Neelofa for their hit drama series Surihati Mr Pilot.
Carrying the theme "Futuristic", the awards featured 13 main categories, and five newly-introduced online categories.
Other winners included Janna Nick (Popular Television Actress), Fazura (Popular Film Actress), Zul Ariffin (Popular Film Actor), Khai Bahar (Popular Male Singer and Popular New Male Artiste), Siti Nordiana (Popular Female Singer), Neelofa (Popular TV Host), Akim & The Majistret (Popular Duo/Group) and Zizan Razak (Popular Comedian).
The Lifetime Achievement Award was presented to rock queen Ella.
ABPBH 2016 was broadcast live on TV3 at 9pm and hosted by Fauziah Ahmad Daud, Faizal Ismail and Zulin Aziz.
Among the performers were Datuk Siti Nurhaliza, Noraniza Idris, Dayang Nurfaizah, Ayda Jebat, Syamsul Yusof, Jaclyn Victor and Khai Bahar.
Since its inception in 1987, ABPBH, organised by Berita Harian, has become the most prestigious awards show for the country's entertainment industry.
