BRINGING along her son to live in Kuala Lumpur must have been her best decision yet.
Popular singer and actress Siti Nordiana Alias, who is also known as Nana, not only gets to spend more time with him, but their mother-and-child bond is now stronger than ever.
“Rayyan is a happier kid now. Sometimes, when I have filming over the weekend, I’d bring him along.
“He enjoys going to the film sets,” Nana said of her 9-year-old son, Muhammad Rayyan Nakhaie.
Following her divorce to the late actor, Faizal Yusup, in 2009, Nana returned to her hometown at Felda Sendayan in Seremban, Negri Sembilan, to live with her parents.
The 32-year-old made a career comeback after winning Season 2 of Gegar Vaganza in 2015.
“Since the win, I was getting many singing and acting jobs, mostly centred in Kuala Lumpur.
“At first, I thought it would be fine to commute, but after a while I realised that I was spending more time on the road than with Rayyan,” she said.
Sometimes, her city gigs required her to be away from home for days, and that made the situation unbearable for them.
“Rayyan used to get upset when I had to work in Kuala Lumpur.
“So, I decided that it’d be better if we moved here,” she said at the recent relaunch of entertainment portal Gempak at Publika in Kuala Lumpur recently.
Nana recently wrapped up filming for a Hari Raya Aidiladha special — a telemovie titled Coklat Semanis Honey.
Directed by Ira Rahman, it has nothing to do with last year’s Dia Semanis Honey drama series, in which Nana starred opposite Alif Satar.
“In this new telemovie, my co-star is Fikry Ibrahim.
“It felt awkward acting in romantic scenes with him whom I’ve regarded as my younger brother,” said Nana of her co-host for Gema Gegar Vaganza which was aired on Astro last April.
On her singing career, Nana released her self-composed single Terus Mencintai last March.
“This is the second time I’ve come out with my own composition. The first was Seribu Janji, a track from my 2004 album, Pelangi.
“I’m composing another single which is expected to be released next year,” she said.
