THE clock is ticking for popular actress Rita Rudaini, who is on the search to find a suitable male actor to be her co-star in an upcoming telemovie, which will be produced by Zeel Production.
She was given the honour of choosing her co-star by the production company itself.
Filming is set to begin in October in Bali, Indonesia.
“I’m fortunate to be given the opportunity to select my ‘hero’. Having worked with the production (team) before, they’ve always had the courtesy of asking me whether I’m comfortable working with certain actors before we would proceed with filming.
“The cast selection is vital, since it determines whether or not the actors can deliver their characters well. If the premise of the story is of high quality, but the actors don’t live up to their performance, then it will be pointless,” said Rita, 41, told the New Straits Times yesterday.
As the filming date gets closer, Rita turned to social media, seeking assistance from her Instagram followers, as well as Netizens for suggestions on who would be the perfect actor for the role.
She uploaded a screenshot of a Facebook status by Fadzil Teh (director at Zeel Production) who wrote: “Zeel Production is giving a chance to Rita Rudaini to choose her own hero to star in a telemovie, which will start filming in Bali this October. Any suggestions?”
She paired it with a caption: “@Hj.zil asked for suggestions. Could you guys help out?”
It did not take long for followers to flood the comment section, suggesting names from Datuk Rosyam Nor, Adi Putra, Aaron Aziz, to Aqasha.
Asked if she agreed to any of the names suggested by her followers, Rita nodded, adding that she had worked with them previously.
“While I’m open to work with anyone, the production team, however, was hoping that I could pick an actor I’ve never worked with before, like Zul Ariffin for example. As long as the actor and I can showcase good chemistry on camera, and deliver a good performance, I’m all good.
“Once I’ve selected an actor, the production team will have a discussion before it gets the go-ahead. I do hope we’ll be able to find someone soon,” said Rita, who is on the filming set of television drama series, Seputih Cinta Rang Bulan.
