Fire stuns, saddens fashion designer Rizalman

KUALA LUMPUR: Stricken with grief and shock over the pre-dawn fire in Kampung Datuk Keramat that took 25 lives, renowned fashion designer Datuk Rizalman Ibrahim shared a picture of the tahfiz centre on his Instagram this morning.

The 46-year-old who has two adopted sons, had sent his elder child Umar Nail, 15, to Pusat Tahfiz Darul Ittifaqiyah which was engulfed by fire, since he was 7. Umar studied for five years.

Rizalman uploaded an image of the destroyed centre on his Instagram with the caption: “Inilah madrasah tahfiz anak saya Umar Nail ketika sebelum melanjutkan pelajaran beliau di STIAS.. banyak nyawa terkorban akibat kebakaran subuh pagi tadi.. semoga semua roh yang terkorban ditempatkan Allah SWT pada kedudukan yang setinggi tingginya di sisiNYA. Pada semua ibubapa serta kaum keluarga saya ucapkan takziah. Cukup terharu kerana anak2 inilah yang selalu saya jumpa ketika menjemput mereka ketika adanya majlis berlangsung.”

(This is the tahfiz centre where my son Umar Nail attended before he furthered his studies at STIAS. Many lives were lost when the place was razed in flame early this morning. May God bless their souls. To the parents of the victims, please accept my heartfelt condolences. I’m deeply affected byt it as I’ve always has these kids over whenever I organise events.)

According to his assistant, although Umar Nail is no longer a student there, Rizalman has always maintained close contact with the children and teachers from the tahfiz centre.
