LONDON: Independent directors of The Weinstein Company had requests to view any allegations of sexual misconduct against shamed boss Harvey Weinstein blocked by his lawyers, the Financial Times reported Friday.
The business newspaper said it had seen letters, between directors Lance Maerov and Tarak Ben Ammar and Weinstein’s legal team, sent in a failed attempt to gain access to an “explosive” company personnel file that they suspected contained allegations predating the current wave of accusations.
The law firm representing the two men said “Harvey’s decision to engage a phalanx of lawyers and law firms to address a mere request for his HR file and his unyielding unwillingness to produce the file speak volumes about what it contains,” according to the report on FT’s website.
A former actress became the latest woman to publicly accuse disgraced movie mogul Harvey Weinstein of sexual misconduct Friday, telling reporters he exposed himself then forced himself on her.
Heather Kerr, now 56, who appeared on 1980s US sitcom “The Facts of Life,” claims Weinstein attacked her during a private meeting when she was an aspiring actress in her 20s.
More than 40 women – many of them now high-profile actresses – have accused Weinstein of sexual harassment, assault or rape.
He is being investigated by detectives in Los Angeles, New York and London.--AFP
